Sri Lankan soldiers showed strong interest in Russian weapons, particularly the AK-12 assault rifle, during the Wolverine Trail 2026 joint exercise, Sri Lankan Armed Forces officer Shehan Wijesinghe said. The Russian-Sri Lankan maneuvers ran from September 22 to 27 in the Primorsky Region and focused on special-forces operations using reconnaissance and strike drones against illegal armed groups.
