The Minns government will spend A$47.1m to reopen the 515-bed Dawn de Loas centre at Sydney’s Silverwater prison complex and fast-track more beds at Parklea, adding nearly 1,000 places. The NSW Public Service Association says prison capacity alone cannot prevent domestic violence or stop reoffending after release.
