SportsFIDE General Assembly upholds suspension of Chess Federation of Russia
The FIDE General Assembly voted by majority to reject proposals from Armenia, Belarus, Cuba and Nicaragua to restore Russia’s membership, leaving the Chess Federation of Russia suspended. FIDE President Timur Turlov said the organization must follow Court of Arbitration for Sport rulings and hoped reinstatement with full rights would become possible once the conditions are met.
