Serbia has granted citizenship to former Ukrainian lawmaker and businessman Vadym Novynskyi under an expedited naturalization provision for cases deemed to serve the national interest. Ukraine suspects him of high treason and inciting religious hatred, has ordered his detention in absentia, and placed him on a wanted list. Serbia has not explained the national interest behind the decision.
