The eastern German town of Heidenau has banned new Stolpersteine memorial plaques on public streets after the center-right CDU and far-right AfD voted together. Activists, politicians and Holocaust victims’ representatives condemned the move, while artist Gunter Demnig said remembrance must remain visible where victims once lived.
