TechBitcoin researchers propose Zcash-style shielded transfers
Researchers have proposed Shielded Bitcoin, a metaprotocol that would enable private transfers on Bitcoin without a soft fork or changes to consensus rules. Borrowing encrypted notes, public nullifiers and zero-knowledge proofs from Zcash, it would hide amounts and counterparties while leaving some timing, fee and transaction metadata visible. The design has not yet specified how ordinary BTC would enter or leave the system.
