Society‘Making women feel seen’: Why the Dutch are creating a new word for labia
The authoritative Dutch dictionary Dikke van Dale plans to list “vulvalippen” alongside the traditional term “schaamlippen” for the labia. Campaigners say the anatomically accurate, more neutral term could reduce body shame and encourage a more positive view of sex. Similar efforts are under way in Germany, Sweden and the UK.
