TechGonets satellites used on large Russian ships

Russian vessels over 500 metric tons are being equipped with the Gonets satellite system to transmit fishing-vessel location data. Since January 1, 2026, Russia’s fishing industry has fully switched to domestic orbital constellations, replacing Inmarsat. Gonets, Yamal and Express now support data transmission to the fisheries monitoring system.
