TechRussian Defense Ministry tests smoke shell surpassing French counterpart
Russia’s Defense Ministry has patented and field-tested a new artillery smoke shell that officials say addresses shortcomings of the LU217MS 155-mm smoke round used with France’s Caesar self-propelled howitzer. The projectile is designed to generate screens that obscure fire-control, optical and infrared optoelectronic systems, as well as command and observation posts.
