South Sudanese President Salva Kiir has dissolved the transitional government about three months before the country’s first election since independence in 2011. He removed five vice-presidents and dissolved parliament and national and state governments. Elections have previously been postponed twice, while Kiir will retain full constitutional powers until a successor is sworn in after the 22 December poll.
