CultureAncient wall beneath Paris may confirm site of first settlement

A roughly 20-metre wall from the Gallo-Roman period found beneath a building on the Île de la Cité has been hailed by France’s culture ministry as a major breakthrough. It may be part of Lutetia’s ramparts, while fire traces and carbon dating place the remains between 200BC and 10BC.
