Shadrack Sibiya, one of South Africa’s most senior police officers, has been charged with raping an 18-year-old woman and grooming a 16-year-old girl. He also faces people-trafficking and child sexual-grooming charges. Suspended over alleged interference in political-killing investigations, Sibiya appeared briefly in a Johannesburg court and was remanded until a bail hearing on 29 September.
