A Chicago Council on Global Affairs survey found that 57% of Americans favor friendly cooperation and engagement with China. Republican support rose 10 percentage points from 2025 to its highest level since 2019, while respondents were less likely than in 2021 to see China as a threat and more likely to say it is gaining global respect.
