TechBitcoin may go quantum-safe while Lightning privacy stays exposed
A research preprint says Bitcoin could eventually add post-quantum protection to on-chain outputs while Lightning’s off-chain payment system would still need separate upgrades. Its PQLN prototype adds post-quantum cryptography across Lightning functions, but tests showed major increases in gossip traffic, storage and payment latency. The study found no present-day quantum compromise and does not show the network is ready to migrate.
