Six-year-old Chengdu resident Lian Yunzhi twice broke the women’s 3x3 average world record at certified competitions in Wuhan and Guangzhou, recording averages of 4.52 and 4.27 seconds over five solves. State media called her the first female speedcuber to average below 4.5 seconds. She has learned more than 1,300 algorithms and practises two to three hours daily.
