EU ambassadors have agreed for the first time to extend individual sanctions against Russia for three years rather than the usual six months, Reuters reported, citing diplomatic sources. The restrictions affect about 3,000 people. Under pressure from France and Luxembourg, EU representatives also agreed to remove sanctions on Russian businessmen Alisher Usmanov and Mikhail Fridman.
