EconomyEU spends three times more on imports from China than it exports

A study of Chinese customs data found the EU’s trade deficit with China reached €36.5bn in July, equivalent to €1.18bn a day. For every €1 of goods the bloc exported, it imported €3.10. The imbalance is expected to feature prominently in talks aimed at avoiding a trade war, while the EU considers quotas on some Chinese imports.
