Ukrainian Defense Intelligence detected a Russian uncrewed surface vessel in the Black Sea on September 12 and directed a Ukrainian Navy drone boat to intercept it. The Ukrainian craft destroyed the Russian explosive boat with a remotely controlled machine-gun turret in what is described as the first clash between drone boats. The vessel was identified as an Orcan surface drone designed to ram and detonate against targets.
