Sanna Manjang, former head of the Gambian paramilitary group known as the Junglers, has appeared before a military court on a charge of desertion dating to his flight from the army in 2017. The case is another accountability effort over killings under Yahya Jammeh, after murder charges against Manjang were dropped in July.
