A major forest fire near Villa de Leyva in Colombia’s Boyaca department has consumed 40 hectares of native forest and threatens the tourist town. Authorities are deploying aircraft, a military helicopter and firefighters from Bogotá, Tunja and Boyaca as high temperatures, El Niño and severe drought fuel fires across the country.
