China recorded 3.32 billion railway passenger trips in the first eight months of 2026, up 3.9% year on year, China Railway said. Foreign passenger trips exceeded 16.68 million, helped by the transit visa-free policy, while cross-border travel on the China-Laos Railway and Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong high-speed railway also grew.
