ScienceChina’s AI-powered telescope selected as global AI application case
The Xingyu Telescope, developed by China’s National Astronomical Observatories, has been named a representative AI application in Stanford University’s 2026 AI Index Report. Its large models and AI agents are integrated into telescope controls, enabling simulated training and adaptive observation strategies. The system has issued early warnings for eight extremely early-stage supernova candidates, two of which received follow-up observations.
