CultureTaiwan compatriots help bring nearly 30 lost sculptures home

Nearly 30 ancient painted sculptures that had been lost overseas are now displayed at the Shanxi Museum. Dating from the 10th century to the early 20th century, they were donated to the Chinese mainland by a Taiwan-based Buddhist organization in 2024 and formally added to the museum’s collection in 2025. Many are fully three-dimensional works meant to be viewed from every angle.
