The U.S. Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control sanctioned Iranian exchange BitBank, its software developer Pishtaz Simorgh Electronic Trade Company and three people linked to Babak Zanjani’s corporate network. Treasury alleges Zanjani used BitBank to move hundreds of millions of dollars in Bitcoin to the IRGC, while another sanctioned entity used it to transfer receipts to Iran’s government.
