A third person has died in a rare malaria cluster near Frankfurt Airport. Two residents of Schwanheim who had not travelled to malaria-endemic areas or worked at the airport contracted Plasmodium falciparum, and health officials believe mosquitoes carried into Germany by aircraft or luggage may be responsible. Six airport workers were infected in July and two later died.
