SocietyUK village votes to 'secede' in protest against asylum center plan

Residents of Piddington, a small Oxfordshire village, held a nonbinding referendum opposing plans to house asylum seekers at the nearby disused MoD Bicester military site. Of 312 voters, 285 backed secession, and the parish council said the village would identify as the “Principality of Piddington.”
