The International Maritime Organization says it has verified 80 attacks on international shipping in and around the Strait of Hormuz since the current Middle East conflict began on February 28. At least 22 seafarers were killed and many others injured. Attacks in the Red Sea have also resumed, with four people killed in an August 11 strike.
