TechByteDance’s AI-powered short-drama app surpasses China’s Netflix rivals combined

ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok, has found another hit in China with Hongguo, an AI-powered short-drama platform launched in 2023. A wave of AI-generated content and animated dramas made with video models including ByteDance’s Seedance helped it overtake some of the country’s biggest professional streaming services.
