A tribunal in Dhaka has sentenced seven members of ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Awami League to death in absentia over their alleged roles in the crackdown on Bangladesh’s 2024 uprising. They were convicted of crimes against humanity, including murder and inciting killings. A defence lawyer said they were not directly involved.
