HealthZambia warns against eating wildlife killed by anthrax
An anthrax outbreak in Zambia’s Munyamadzi Game Management Area has killed at least 46 hippos, eight elephants, five buffaloes and a crocodile. Twelve people became infected after eating carcasses and are being treated. Authorities have suspended hunting in the affected area and warned against consuming or handling meat from animals that died suddenly or may have had anthrax.
