ScienceRussia to double depleted uranium processing capacity after Zelenogorsk launch
A new depleted uranium hexafluoride processing facility has begun operating at the Electrochemical Plant in Zelenogorsk, in Russia’s Krasnoyarsk Region. Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev said it is the country’s second such facility, with annual capacity of 10,000 tons, and will double Russia’s de-fluorination capacity to 20,000 tons while producing a chemically safe form for storage.
