Professional Game Referees admitted that Erling Haaland’s winning goal in Manchester City’s 1-0 derby victory over Manchester United should not have stood after VAR intervention. The body said VAR failed to recognise the likely impact of offside City midfielder Enzo Fernandez and should have recommended an on-field review, calling the decision an error of judgment. United’s Lisandro Martinez described the goal as an injustice.
