The government is providing $300m in direct grants for crisis and transitional accommodation, expected to create 500 homes and support about 19,000 vulnerable Australians. Clare O’Neil and Tanya Plibersek say the broader package will assist more than 50,000 women and children fleeing family violence, as well as young people at risk of or experiencing homelessness. The funding was previously announced as concessional loans.
