EconomyRwanda inaugurates first steel processing plant

Rwanda has inaugurated its first steel manufacturing plant, aiming to increase local production and cut steel imports. Prime Minister Justin Nsengiyumva opened A1 Iron and Steel Rwanda Ltd. in Musanze District. The factory produces construction materials including bars, nails, barbed wire and pipes, with an annual processing capacity of about 250,000 tonnes and plans for roughly 1,000 direct and 2,500 indirect jobs.
