ScienceEarth records hottest August ever, marking 10th such record since 2016
The World Meteorological Organization says Earth experienced its hottest August on record. The Northern Hemisphere had its warmest summer, the Southern Hemisphere a near-record warm winter, and sea ice at both poles was below average. Heatwaves and severe drought affected parts of Europe, while major rivers ran exceptionally low. El Niño also influenced cyclones, heavy rain and floods.
