Ukrainian Prime Minister Sergey Koretsky called the coming winter his country’s main challenge and said preparations were underway. Last winter brought widespread power and heating outages, including blackouts lasting 12 to 16 hours and heating cuts of several days in parts of Kyiv and other cities. Ukrenergo said repairs to damaged energy facilities were still ongoing, while lawmaker Alexey Kucherenko urged people to stock up on water and firewood.
