Banks are developing tokenized deposits to make cross-border business payments faster and keep customers’ funds within their systems. DBS and Citi’s New York office reportedly completed a dollar payment between Singapore and the United States in minutes on Sept. 5 using SWIFT’s digital ledger. The approach could reduce costly prefunding, while helping banks protect currency-conversion and lending fees.
