For about two months each year, winter rains turn the semi-desert on South Africa’s west coast into a carpet of native wildflowers. At West Coast National Park, blooms appear in white, yellow, orange and purple. The 2026 season came earlier after a warmer, drier winter, making the display especially fleeting.
