Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning urged a Philippine individual to end what she called provocations and theatrics and stop harming China-Philippines relations and stability in the South China Sea. Responding to remarks by Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr., Mao said the Philippines’ unilateral South China Sea arbitration case distorted and abused the UNCLOS dispute-settlement mechanism and violated the convention.
