Photographers have captured a striking red sand sea in Keping County, Xinjiang, on the northern edge of the Taklimakan Desert. The crimson dunes formed as sandstone from uplifted red-bed sedimentary rocks weathered into grains over millennia and accumulated across the Gobi.
