Aughinish Alumina told senior Irish officials that Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine and its links to sanctioned oligarch Oleg Deripaska had made operations difficult, the Irish Times reported. The Foynes refinery is owned by Rusal, and shipments of alumina to Russia now account for about half its business. The EU is reportedly considering alumina in its next sanctions package.
