Former Ecuadorian President Abdala Bucaram was sentenced to nine years and four months in prison after being found guilty of organized crime over the illegal sale of COVID-19 tests and medical supplies. His son Jacob was also sentenced. Bucaram followed the ruling remotely from a guarded clinic in Guayaquil.
