WorldNorthern Fleet ships enter Laptev Sea during Arctic deployment

Warships and auxiliary vessels from Russia’s Northern Fleet have entered the Laptev Sea after passing through the Vilkitsky Strait as part of a long-distance Arctic deployment. Aerial reconnaissance found difficult ice conditions, fog and visibility of 200 meters, with icebergs and ice fields along the route. The ice-class patrol ship Ivan Papanin is guiding the detachment and maintaining contact with vessels on the Northern Sea Route.
