WorldUN backs Africa-led push for more accurate world maps

The UN General Assembly overwhelmingly approved a resolution encouraging more accurate, equal-area world maps after an Africa-led campaign spearheaded by Togo. It does not prohibit the widely used Mercator projection, instead promoting alternatives such as Equal Earth. The United States voted against and six countries abstained.
