At Yihai Lake in Sichuan’s Mianning County, a 1935 alliance between Yi chieftain Xiaoyedan and Red Army General Liu Bocheng has become part of the story of a changing village. The Yihai Alliance and the area’s scenery now support tourism; the lake drew 132,000 visitors in 2025. Rebuilt in 2016, Jiemeng Xinzhai has developed rural tourism while preserving its Long March connection.
