EconomySeverstal expects Russian steel consumption to decline in 2026-2027

Severstal expects domestic Russian steel consumption to fall in both 2026 and 2027, according to Severstal Distribution director Viktor Romanovsky. He forecasts slight demand growth in the automotive, energy and infrastructure sectors, while the company has linked an expected 7-9% decline in 2026 to a cooling economy, high interest rates and a stronger ruble.
