World81st UN General Assembly session opens at headquarters
The first meeting of the 81st UN General Assembly session was held at UN headquarters. President Khalilur Rahman outlined priorities including peace and security, sustainable development, climate action and restoring trust in multilateralism, while urging member states to pay their assessed contributions in full and on time. The session runs through September 7, 2027, and will also select the next secretary general.
