The US is banning Canadian imports including alcohol, dairy and motor vehicles as Canada’s retaliatory tariffs on American goods take effect. Donald Trump said Canada was discriminating against US commerce and ordered the ban to begin on 29 September. Mark Carney warned that shifting away from the US as Canada’s biggest trading partner would carry a cost.
