Europe’s welfare levels could collapse unless the region rescues its auto industry and builds a beneficial relationship with Chinese carmakers setting up factories there, Gestamp chair and founder Francisco Riberas told the Financial Times. He called automotive manufacturing an anchor for industries including steel, aluminium, glass and chemicals, and urged Chinese firms to produce locally and use European suppliers.
