CultureDemolition begins at Moscow’s striking Elektrozavod complex

Parts of Moscow’s historic Elektrozavod factory complex have been demolished after owner Etalon Group received permission to proceed. The developer says it will preserve the buildings’ facades and distinctive features while constructing housing, but it remains unclear whether the original facades will survive or be replaced with replicas. A preservation petition has gathered more than 19,000 signatures.
